A Healing Hike offers an immersive whole-body experience in nature, allowing for rejuvenation, relief from worry, a path to creative solutions, or an opportunity to heal. In-person and online options
The in-person option is a slow moving, quiet nature hike, open to new and experienced hikers, described by attendees as a walking meditation on the trail where we take cues from our nature guides (trees, birds, smells, sounds, quiet). The hiking time will vary depending on the event.
For the online option, we meet on Doxy (telehealth platform) and embark on a guided meditation. The whole experience takes about an hour.
Both options are led by your counselor guide who offers various grounding exercises, in the model taught by Raynelle Rino, to help establish a connection with nature while acknowledging and honoring those who lived on the land before us. We will hike with pauses for observation and facilitated conversation.
If you are new to nature, here’s a chance to dispel myths. I guarantee that you will not see a bear. Instead, your senses may be engaging with your surroundings in new ways. You will likely see something beautiful, smell something stinky, and you may feel some emotions as you reflect upon or are inspired by nature’s elements.
If you have some experience in nature, this may be a slower pace than usual. You may reawaken your observation skills, find a deeper connection to your nature guides, and feel some emotions as you reflect upon or are inspired by nature’s elements.
All hikers may benefit as we practice silent walking, new grounding techniques, opening ourselves to what nature has to share. We may hear from birds who tell us to beware, or see trees who show us that grief can bring growth. There is much to be learned from the trail.
